Since it’s the most requested filter I’m asked to test, I think it was time to ask and answer the question: do Alexapure water filters remove fluoride?
Now considering these filters are recommended by people who I highly respect, I thought they’d for sure be able to remove fluoride since that’s what most people buy them for. But let’s just say the test results were quite shocking…
Do Alexapure Water Filters Remove Fluoride?
To answer this question, I bought both the Alexapure pitcher and the Alexapure Pro stainless steel gravity-fed filter. Which I will personally test with a fluoride meter, this way we’re 100% sure.
Now the first step is to test the fluoride levels of the tap water before filtering. This way we know how much fluoride an Alexapure water filter removes when we test it.
As you can see below, the fluoride meter registered 0.6 ppm of fluoride in my tap water.
Which means it’s time to test Alexapure…
Starting with the pitcher.
Alexapure Pitcher Water Filter
What I like to do before showing my own test results, is see what the actual company is saying about its product. And when it comes to the Alexapure pitcher, Alexapure clearly states on their website their filter can remove fluoride.
Here’s a screenshot directly taken from their website…
To be exact, Alexapure claims their pitcher can remove “Up to 90% of Fluoride”.
Which would be amazing if true.
But what’s the truth?
According to the fluoride meter, the Alexapure pitcher only reduced fluoride levels from 0.6 ppm to 0.5 ppm. Far from the 90% they claim and is much closer to 17% fluoride reduction.
Which will only get worse over time, since the filters I tested were new. That have only filtered 1 gallon of water. No where close to the “80 gallons or 60 days” advertised on their website.
Now let’s look at the stainless steel filter.
Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System
First let’s see what Alexapure advertises about their stainless steel water filter…
According to Alexapure, the Alexapure Pro stainless steel filter can reduce “206 contaminants commonly found in drinking water” and when it comes to fluoride, they say it can remove more than 97%!
Again quite impressive if true…
So let’s see what the truth is.
According to the fluoride meter, the Alexapure Pro stainless steel filter only reduced fluoride levels from 0.6 ppm to 0.5 ppm. Once again, far from the advertised 97% they claim and much closer to 17% fluoride reduction.
So can Alexapure filters remove fluoride?
It’s clear Alexapure can NOT remove fluoride as advertised, as both their pitcher and stainless steel filters were only able to remove trace amounts of fluoride, 17% to be exact. No where close to the pitchers advertised 90% reduction and the stainless steel filters 97% reduction claims.
Which is very sad but at least now you know.
What’s Wrong With AlexaPure?
Before buying and seeing the filters for myself, I assumed they were good.
But after all the tests I’ve done, as soon as I opened the box and saw these filters – I knew there was a low chance of their claims being true. The first red flag was how unimpressive their filters felt and looked in my hand…
If you take a look at the filters that go inside the pitcher (pictured below) you’ll see how tiny they are and when you hold them in your hand, they feel very cheap…
While the the problem with the black filter that goes in the stainless steel filter, is that it seems like it’s only a black carbon filter. Which is not enough to filter fluoride and why brands have an additional attachment to target other toxins like fluoride.
But the biggest red flag…
Was how quickly they filtered water.
And you may think that’s a good thing. However, after testing 40+ filters for fluoride, I’ve noticed the ones that filter water too quickly, either don’t remove fluoride or only remove a trace amount.
So what now?
Which Water Filters CAN Remove Fluoride?
It’s sad that Alexapure misleads their customers.
Especially since most of you know this brand from probably the most famous and respected anti-fluoride advocate. But hey, I’ll give that guy the benefit of the doubt because I don’t think it’s his brand and he was probably misguided like you were with sketchy lab results.
So what’s the solution to this?
Well after testing 40+ filters, I’ve realized which brands are saying the truth about their products and which ones are not. So to help you not get tricked again, I’ll share the test results to all 40+ filters I’ve tested. This way you can double check before buying – if it can or can not remove fluoride.
