After many requests, I finally got the chance to answer the question whether Klar water filters could remove fluoride.
And I did this by visiting England, buying a Klar water filter pitcher and personally testing it with a fluoride meter (shocking result to say the least).
Do Klar Water Filters Remove Fluoride?
Out of all the fluoride tests I’ve done, I was very excited for this one…
Dozens of people from Europe have asked me about Klar. And considering it’s hard to get the water filter pitcher I recommend, I was looking forward to adding another filter to my recommendation list.
But before we jump to the results, let’s take a look at what Klar claims its filter can do.
According to the side of the box, Klar claims one of the benefits of its filter is fluoride filtration with 90% removal.
With how popular this filter is and its bold claims, I did not think there was a chance this could be a lie. But in the past, there have been a few popular brands that have lied to customers, so it’s always best to test it independently. This way we know 100% if it can remove fluoride.
Now since it was hard to find fluoridated tap water where I was staying in the UK. I used a brand of bottled water called “22 Artesian Water” which contained 0.8 ppm of fluoride.
And here are the result after filtering…
According to the fluoride meter, the Klar water filter pitcher removed 25% of fluoride. As fluoride levels were 0.8 ppm before filtering and 0.6 ppm after filtering – far from the 90% fluoride removal Klar advertises.
This is quite disappointing and I wish this was some sort of mistake (willing to test it again) but as it stands, Klar is not a filter you should get if you want fluoride out of your water.
