I’ve already tested Brita and Zerowater, but do PUR water filters remove fluoride?
To answer this question, we’re going to do what’s best…
Buy a PUR water filter and test it with a fluoride meter.

Do PUR Water Filters Remove Fluoride?
The first step is to test the fluoride levels of the tap water we’re going to filter.
This way we will know how much fluoride a PUR water filter removes when we test it.
Now usually my tap water contains 0.6 ppm of
However, fluoride levels can change, so it’s best we play it safe and test it again.
The fluoride meter registered 0.7 ppm of fluoride in my tap water (0.10 ppm more than usual).
Now let’s test if PUR water filters remove fluoride.
Hopefully it performs better than Brita, which was unable to remove any fluoride when tested (0.6 ppm before and after filtering).
So, do PUR water filters remove fluoride?
According to the fluoride meter, PUR water filters DO remove fluoride. In fact, the PUR water filter pitcher reduced the fluoride levels found in my tap water from 0.7 ppm to 0.0 ppm – essentially removing ALL fluoride.
This is a surprise, since even PUR website failed to mention if their filter can remove fluoride.
Very odd, as usually companies do this when their filter can not filter a certain contaminant.
But putting that aside, let’s get to another important question…
Should You Buy A PUR Water Filter?
When it comes to filtering fluoride, PUR get’s the job done.
It comes with something called “MAX ION” which is probably what they recently changed that can now filter fluoride (they’re older filters can NOT remove fluoride).
And the only other mainstream water filter pitcher that removed fluoride was Zerowater, as when tested, it also took fluoride levels in my tap water down to 0.0 ppm.
So should you get PUR or Zerowater?
I’d get neither one.
In fact, recently I tested a bunch of different filters and realized the best water filter pitcher is Clearly Filtered (link to their website).
Note: if you plan on buying the pitcher, you should buy from Clearly Filtered (link to their website) and not Amazon. The price you pay will be cheaper and shipping time is the exact same if not faster through Clearly Filtered.
It removes fluoride and the filters last for 100 gallons, which is much longer than Zerowater and PUR combined.
Plus it comes with unique filtering technology that ranks as one of the best methods on how to remove fluoride from water.
But before you head on over to Clearly Filtered, here’s one last thing to consider…
Other Filters That Remove Fluoride?
Clearly the only way to know if a filter removes fluoride is to test it.
