What’s the truth about fluoride when it comes to Aquafina, does Aquafina water have fluoride?
A great question considering Aquafina does not have it’s fluoride levels printed on the label of their bottled water.
So to answer this I’m going to buy and test a bottle of Aquafina with a fluoride meter, plus at the end I will share with you the best brands of fluoride-free bottled water.
Does Aquafina Water Have Fluoride?
According to the Aquafina website, their water contains an “ND” (not detected) level of fluoride. Which generally means less than 0.1 ppm of fluoride.
That’s extremely low and would rank Aquafina as fluoride-free bottled water on our 178+ list of bottled water without fluoride.
Along the likes of other fluoride-free brands like Poland Spring, which in does Poland Spring have fluoride, was reported and tested to have 0.0 ppm of fluoride.
But before we get carried away, let’s double check this and test it for ourselves…
So does Aquafina contain fluoride?
According to the fluoride meter, Aquafina water contains 0.0 ppm of fluoride.
Which should be to no surprise.
Since it states on the side of the bottle that Aquafina water is filtered using reverse osmosis.
Which is one of the best ways to filter your water.
In fact, in my independent reverse osmosis fluoride tests, I was able to reduce fluoride content in my home’s tap water from 0.6 ppm to 0.0 ppm, using a reverse osmosis filter.
But there is one HUGE problem with Aquafina bottled water…
Important Update
It’s come to my attention that even though Aquafina bottle water is “purified by reverse osmosis” some of their bottled water may still contain fluoride. I say this because I’ve seen fluoride levels of 0.3 ppm in some of their bottled water sold in Toronto, Canada. I’m not sure how this is possible considering reverse osmosis is great at removing fluoride. Maybe they cheaped out on the filter quality or slacked on filter maintenance. So until further notice, consider Aquafina as a brand that may contain fluoride.
That issue is that Aquafina water may contain high levels of microplastics.
In fact, one study has shown test results showing 1,295 particles per liter of microplastics, in Aquafina bottled water.
But the good news is that there are brands that are low in fluoride and low in microplastics.
And to help you out, I’m going to share those results with you. To be exact, I’ll send you the entire list of brands tested for fluoride plus the best/healthiest brands of bottled water.
