Since the English government decided to start adding fluoride to tap water, it’s only far to ask, does Buxton water have fluoride?
So to answer this question, I flew to London, bought a bottle of Buxton and tested it with a fluoride meter. This way we’re 100% sure what’s inside the bottle.
Does Buxton Water Have Fluoride?
Before we test Buxton for ourselves, let’s take a look at a screenshot from the FAQ section located on their official website:
According to Buxton, their natural mineral bottled water contains 200 ug/l of fluoride. Which is equivalent to 0.2 ppm or 0.2 mg/l.
This would rank Buxton, with slightly above average fluoride levels when compared to the other brands at bottled water without fluoride (link to where you can search the fluoride content of 178+ brands).
But let’s confirm this by testing a sample with a fluoride meter…
According to the fluoride meter, Buxton natural mineral spring water contains 0.2 ppm of fluoride – confirming the information found on the official Buxton website.
Now natural spring water on average contains 0.05 ppm of fluoride. So Buxton’s fluoride content is slightly above what’s normally found in nature. But still not too bad.
However, there are many brands that I think are much better.
For example, there’s Essentia, which in does Essentia water have fluoride – was found to contain 0.0 ppm of fluoride. But if I’m being honest, I’d rather go with a natural spring water that’s low in fluoride (Essentia is filtered tap water).
Best Fluoride-Free Bottled Water?
So what brand should you choose?
Well, I’d keep in mind that just because a brand is low in fluoride does not mean it’s a great choice. This could be for several different reasons but it’s possible a brand could be fluoride-free but also high in microplastics, arsenic, or even PFAS.
