Does Clearly Filtered Remove Fluoride?

After testing 33+ water filters for fluoride, I’ve realized many brands lie about their filters being able to remove fluoride.

And this isn’t just any brand or filter, it includes Amazon best-selling “fluoride” water filters like Aquagear, Waterdrop and Epic Nano – just to name a few.

All of which were shown to have NO effect on removing fluoride.

And when it comes to basic filters like Kirkland (similar to Brita filters) it was shown in do Kirkland water filters remove fluoride – to also have no effect on fluoride.

Now when we take a look at Clearly FIltered, they also claim to remove fluoride…

To be exact, they claim 98.2% fluoride removal.

UPDATE (August 30, 2021): Spoiler alert… One reason I love Clearly Filtered is that they continuously try and make their products better and test them. Here are the updated Clearly Filtered test results…

ContaminantChallenge Water
(mg/L)
Filtered Water
(mg/L)
% Removal
Fluoride2.18<0.010>99.5%
Fluosilicate1.98<0.010>99.5%
Fluosilicic Acid2.1<0.010>99.5%

Note, not only did they test for just “fluoride” but they also tested for Fluosilicate and Fluosilicic Acid which are the two most common fluorides added to tap water.

However the only way to truly know is by testing it ourselves.

So the first step is to test the tap water, this way we know the fluoride levels before filtering…

tap water tested for fluoride, 0.6 ppm result

According to the fluoride meter, the tap water contains 0.6 ppm before filtering.

Which means it’s time to test the Clearly Filtered water filter pitcher.

So can Clearly Filtered remove fluoride?

According to the fluoride meter, Clearly Filtered CAN remove fluoride. As fluoride levels were 0.6 ppm before filtering and 0.0 ppm after filtering.

And with that result, you should feel confident buying Clearly Filtered as it gets the stamp of approval from me.

Note: if you plan on buying the pitcher, you should buy from Clearly Filtered (link to their website) and not Amazon. The price you pay will be cheaper and shipping time is the exact same if not faster through Clearly Filtered.

But before you do any of that, you should read the next section.

This way you know if this water filter is the best option for you.

Other Water Filters That Remove Fluoride?

When it comes to fluoride water filters, the best pitcher is Clearly Filtered.

And I just realized on a piece of paper in the box, that they offer a lifetime warranty on their filter, which not many other water pitchers do.

But there are a couple other filters that you may like more than this pitcher.

And after testing 33+ water filters, I’ve put together a guide on the best water filters for fluoride (link to guide).

Which is where you’ll be able to figure out which water filter is best for your needs.

Anyways, there you have it, the truth about fluoride in regards to Clearly Filtered.
